YOUTH
BAPTISM
Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as a son or daughter of God. In Baptism we become members of Christ and are incorporated into the Church, becoming sharers in her mission. While it is an important event in the life of a family, it is more than just a private family celebration. When a child becomes a member of God’s family through Baptism, the Church community commits to supporting the parents and the child in their faith journeys - contact the Parish Office [email protected] or 04 388 6953 to arrange your child's baptism

FIRST SACREMENTS
We cover first reconciliation, confirmation and first communion in the same year. If your child/children are in a parish school you will get to hear about it. Otherwise, when your child turns 9, please notify your interest at the parish office at the beginning of the school year and you will be put forward for the programme when it starts.

SUPPORT
SOCIETY OF ST VINCENT DE PAUL, HOLY TRINITY EASTERN SUBURBS CONFERENCE: "YOUR VINNIES"
What does 'Your Vinnies' do? The SVDP Society was founded by Blessed Frederick Ozanam in 1833 and it is our privilege to continue this almost 200 year old mission to simply "do a little good". We work in Kilbirnie, Miramar, Seatoun, Lyall Bay, and Strathmore suburbs to help members of our community who ask for our help. Our work is varied, but it often includes visits, phone calls, shopping and transport; supply of food hampers, clothes, and/or furniture; and support to students most in need with such items as uniforms, stationary, and sport and music fees. We also facilitate a weekly morning tea at Kotuku Flats in Kilbirnie, help support our Parish 'Thursday Group' (Mass with a cuppa and chat), and several times a year run a Saturday collection at PaknSave in Kilbirnie which allows us to distribute special food hampers to our clients around Easter, August and Christmas. We work closely with Vinnie's Newtown too. So who are we? We are a small group of local volunteers (and we're all Police vetted too) who come together in friendship and fellowship once a month to coordinate our services and make sure we are doing the best we possibly can with our resources to assist our clients. We strive to show love and compassion, humility, and to provide a practical approach to those in hardship or isolation whom we assist through personal contact. We absolutely value our clients privacy and we act discretely and operate in a "low key" way. If you would like to refer someone who needs help, please don't hesitate to contact our President Andrew (027 596 7665) or our Secretary Annette (021 204 5993). We are generously supported by our Parish through weekly food donations collected in baskets in our Church foyers and through cash donations - everything collected goes directly to those most in need in the Eastern Suburbs. If you would like to make a direct online donation to our local Conference account, please do so at: BNZ Kilbirnie, St Vincent de Paul Society, A/c No. 02 0576 0017 817 06 , reference “ Donation ”. If you would like a receipt for tax purposes, do please contact our Treasurer, Maria (022 428 0247). |
