​WHAT KIND OF LIFE DO YOU HAVE AT THE MOMENT?
The Gospel today warns us about the fate of those who have too many material things in this life. Not only do they live more complicated lives, they also risk the possibility of going to the place of torment after a life of comfort in this world. There’s nothing wrong with being rich. What is wrong is when your riches bind and blind you that you no longer have joy, fulfilments and meaning. When money becomes your God then people become just tools for you to make more money; and God has no place in your heart. I agree that the bottom line for many things in this world is money, but the human spirit with us is meant to go above the bottom line.
You have riches, but do you have a life? I received a text message which says; “You make a living by what you received, but you make a life by what you give!” You may have quantity in life, but do you have quality life? Ordinary people will always have a reason trying to have more in life. Principled people on the other hand know when to stop and say no to quantity and go for quality. So, when will you stop quantifying and start qualifying for life, and for eternal life?

Feast of St Francis of Assisi: Tuesday 4th October 2016  
10.30am Mass – Holy Cross Church
On the occasion of the feast of St Francis Assisi our Seraphic Father, the Capuchin community in Wellington invites you to a Solemn Mass to be held at Holy Cross Church at 10.30am.
Please note: THIS WILL BE THE ONLY MORNING MASS IN THE PARISH ON TUES 4TH OCTOBER  
Please bring a plate for the shared lunch in Holy Cross Hall after the festive Mass of St Francis.

Mass Intentions: 
It is wonderful and our duty to offer Masses for our deceased loved ones. It is also equally important that we offer Mass of sacrifice in thanksgiving, for good health, for our families, and for variety of reasons.  Please mention which Church you would your Mass offering to be said and let the priest know you would like it to be announced or not. According to the Archdiocesan policy, the minimum for Mass offering is $10.  But even if you do not have anything to offer, just tell us and we will be more than happy to say for your intention.

Gascoigne Educational Scholarship 2016.  This scholarship is open to all ages groups who are present members of Holy Trinity Parish and are planning to study for 2017 and beyond at a tertiary level and who meet the qualifying criteria which are included in the terms and conditions. Holy Hour
You are invited to a Holy Hour on Tuesday 28 September beginning at 7.30 pm in the Cathedral chapel to pray for vocations to priesthood and religious life.  This Holy Hour will include prayer, Scripture, times of silence and concluding with Benediction followed by supper.
St Anthony’s Bazaar 18 February 2017
 The bi-annual St Anthony’s School and Parish Bazaar will be held on Saturday 18 February 2017. We are looking to our wonderful community in order to find sponsors so we can make the most of this fundraising opportunity. St Anthony’s Bazaar
We are asking for donations  for the bazaar and these can be left at the back of the church at St Anthony’s.
The things we need are:
Sugars – white, brown, and also jam making sugar if possible please.
Vinegar – white, malt, white wine, balsamic, cider
Retreat Day
Fr John Rea is offering to conduct a Retreat Day on the theme of Mercy on Saturday 1 October in the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.  The day will begin at 9.30 am with Morning Tea and the first talk begins at 10am  The day will conclude with Mass which will finish around 3.30 pm.  All are welcome to attend.  This is another chance to reflect in a retreat atmosphere on this Year of Mercy.
 

Children’s Liturgy Workshop: Teresa Wackrow from the Auckland Diocesan Liturgy Office, and Fr. Patrick Bridgman, Wellington Diocesan Liturgy Advisor are running a Children’s Liturgy formation workshop from 7.00-9.00pm on Thursday 20th October at Ss. Peter & Paul’s Church, Johnsonville.  The workshop is aimed at people alredy involved in children’s liturgy and anyone interested in becoming involved.  Teresa & Fr. Patrick promise a fun, interactive and informative evening, looking at children’s liturgy guidelines, resources and an opportunity to answer your questions. St Bernards’ College Old Boys Association are calling for registrations for the annual Brother Ambrose Golf Cup.  Friday October 14th from noon at Wainuiomata Golf Club.
