News from the Parish Council: Vision and Values and Next Steps
With the help of parishioners, the Parish Council is pleased to announce the Vision for the Holy Trinity Parish We are a prayerful and diverse Catholic community in the Eastern suburbs of Wellington, drawing strength from one another to grow and become fully alive as missionary disciples. Also, through your involvement in the survey and on-going discussions, the Values of the Parish have been defined as: Welcoming, Prayerful, Community, Supportive/caring, Missionary, Connected The Parish Council wishes to thank you all for your help in establishing the Vision and Values for the Holy Trinity Parish. These are the sign posts to guide us as we develop our future plans. Next Steps: On Sunday November 15 you are invited to the next session with Tim Gordon, our facilitator, to determine some priority actions to achieve our Vision and live our Values. We look forward to seeing you at Holy Cross Hall, Miramar at 11.30am – Sunday 15 November. BRINGING PARISH AND SCHOOL COMMUNITIES CLOSER - A Positive Change Initiative for the Holy Cross Church Family Mass The next Mass at Holy Cross School Hall will be 10am Sunday 15th November Fr Gregory will be celebrating his birthday on Monday 9th. Please remember him in your prayers and wish him a Happy Birthday. St Anthony’s Children will be making their First Holy Communion on the 22nd November at the 10am Mass. Please keep them in your prayers. St. Anthony's and Good Shepherd invite new applicants for the Ministries of the Word; Communion; to the Sick. Especially - but not only - we are looking for our younger people to come forward. Please ring Julie Marshall 3888-644; or email [email protected] Altar Linen washing – New volunteers are needed to wash the altar linen used at weekday and Sunday Masses. You would only be required to do this for 2 consecutive weeks once or twice a year, depending on how many people are on the roster. The linen is collected after 10 am Mass on a Sunday and returned the next week. If you can help please contact, Marianne Krafft, on 388 6953 or [email protected] before 23 November. Holy Cross Mass Rosters are ready to be collected from the back of the church. NOVEMBER PRAYERS FOR THE DEAD: As November is the traditional month for special prayers for our loved ones, parishioners are asked to write the names and place them in the box on the Altar steps, or give them to the priest. At St Patrick’s Church Envelopes are available in the foyer. Because of the large number of names, we will only print anniversaries or recent. All names will be remembered in Masses offered during November. Ignite Youth Group for Yrs 7 and 8's is on again this Sunday the 8th Nov from 4.15- 5.15pm at St Patrick's Church. This will be the last organised by Alivia. Ignite will continue to run every 2nd and 4th Sunday until the end of term 4 and will be led by Rain Forest. Life Teen There is no 5.30 mass this week, we will be attending the Young Church Mass at the Cathedral Sunday 7.00 pm. Next week we start out Alive and Dangerous series. Summer Camp cut off is 12th November - Max 0272255449 Euthanasia & Assisted Suicide – Information Session The Wellington South Pastoral Area is hosting an interactive session on euthanasia & assisted suicide and how to make a submission to the Health Select Committee, on Sunday 8th November at 12pm at St Joseph’s Church, Mt Victoria. It will be led by Matthew Jansen, a member of the Care Alliance and St Joseph’s community. For more information contact Steve Ready on 027 356 9555. Refugee Workshop Developing a collaborative response. We encourage you to attend this workshop to find out what’s involved and different ways your Parish could welcome refuges. The Legion of Mary presents the true face of the Catholic Church. (Pope John XXII July 13th 1960) Holy Hour You are invited to a Holy Hour on Tuesday 17 November beginning at 7.30 pm in the Cathedral chapel to pray for vocations to priesthood and religious life. This Holy Hour will include prayers, Scripture, times of silence and concluding with Benediction followed by supper.
